An Introduction to Crochet
Have you ever wanted to learn to crochet? This series of two workshops led by Anne Farmer (Ditsy Pips) is an ideal way for complete beginners to have an introduction into the world of crochet and learn all the skills you need to start hooking your own projects. Each workshop is 2 1/2 hours long and comes with everything you need to get going - hooks, yarn, stitch guides and handouts along with online support and assistance should you need it once the workshops have finished. Spend the morning learning a new skill, immersed in the beautiful and relaxed setting of The Bower café at Hill View Farm, with three projects to take away to continue your learning at home.
Part One: SOLD OUT
Wednesday 25th April, 10:30-13:00
This workshop starts right at the beginning with an introduction to yarn, hooks and crochet terminology. Learn how to hold your hook and yarn, make and count basic stitches, achieve straight ends and read basic patterns. By the end of this course, you will be able to make simple shapes, the perfect starting point for scarves and blankets.
Wednesday 23rd May 10:30-13:00
This workshop builds on the knowledge gained from Part One. In this session we will learn how to increase, decrease and change colour, read basic charts and start to crochet in the round, introducing new shapes and patterns such as the classic Granny square and a handy coaster. There will be three more projects to take away and complete at home and by the end of this workshop, you will have worked through all the skills you need to take on a wide variety of projects. Please note, you will need to have completed an Introduction to Crochet Part One before attending this workshop.
The cost of each workshop is £25 per person. Should you need to cancel your booking for any reason, please let me know as soon as possible. Your booking fee is fully refundable if you cancel at least 24 hours before the course begins. Should you cancel after this point, unfortunately, the booking fee is then non-refundable. My name is Anne and I have been teaching and designing crochet patterns for a little over three years. In that time, I have taught around 200 people to crochet; I love seeing the progression from complete beginner to crochet addict! I have worked with a number of independent yarn businesses including Unbelieva-wool and Yarn For The Soul, have ongoing collaborations with Natasha at Hill View Farm and Dye Candy and have designed everything from crocodiles, to clothing to planets. I have had patterns published in Inside Crochet and Let's Get Crafting Knitting & Crochet Magazine and can be found on Ravelry, Instagram and Facebook under the business name Ditsy Pips. I am a mum to two still young-ish children, am an occasional blogger and have an all too frequently neglected allotment.
